Which calculation method should I use?
Whichever your local masjid uses. Here is the usual one per region.
- Gulf — Umm Al-Qura (Makkah). Also IACAD Dubai, Kuwait, Qatar.
- North Africa — Algeria, Tunisia, Morocco, or Egyptian General Authority of Survey.
- South Asia — University of Islamic Sciences, Karachi.
- North America — ISNA, or Moonsighting Committee Worldwide.
- Europe — Muslim World League. France and Portugal are listed separately.
- South-East Asia — JAKIM, KEMENAG, MUIS.
- Turkey — Diyanet. Iran — University of Tehran.
- Kurdistan Region — the mosques’ printed timetable, town by town. Set for you there.
The madhab only moves Asr. Match your masjid's timetable, not your school: Turkey's, the Balkans' and most others use the earlier Asr.
